Congratulations to Anna Erickson on being a recipient of the BOE's Cougar Pride Award. Erickson was nominated by Heather Graney (on behalf of the 2nd grade students). Mrs. Erickson and I co-teach 2nd grade content and skills, mixing our students throughout the year to best meet their needs, and also teach to our own strengths. Mrs. Erickson mainly teaches the math skills and concepts, while I focus on phonics, and writing. The students have been working on writing strong opinion pieces in writing, providing evidence and explanations for their thinking. In honor of this process, and the question I got after receiving a Cougar Pride Award earlier in the year, "How would Mrs. Erickson get the Cougar Pride Award?", the students brainstormed ideas, reviewed the nomination form and composed their own opinion pieces for the Board of Education to consider Mrs. Erickson as a candidate for this honor. #WeAreHFL
Congratulations to Jon Harrington on being a recipient of the BOE's Cougar Pride Award. Mr. Jon was nominated by several students at the Middle School for being the best and working hard to maintain the cleanliness of the school and keeps the students safe as a crossing guard. He also is so kind to the students and takes time out of his day to lift our spirits up whether it be saying hi or giving a fist bump, he will always try his best to lift your day up. This is why Mr. Jon deserves this award, he gives so much to this community, the schools, and especially the students. #WeAreHFL
Congratulations to Margaret Murphy on being a recipient of the BOE's Cougar Pride Award. Murphy was nominated by the second grade teachers for going above and beyond helping all students succeed. The second grade teachers would like to highlight just one of the wonderful contributions that Ms. Murphy and her LEAP program provide to our school community. Each year, in conjunction with community leaders, Ms. Murphy and her LEAP program host a SUPERKIDS event that raises money for students in Uganda. Through this endeavor, she teaches all students and adults how important it is to give back. Ms. Murphy and all of her colleagues within our LEAP program, both big and small, work tirelessly to make this event a success and true learning experience for all. We are so thankful that she is part of our Manor School community. #WeAreHFL
Reminder: Board of Education Meeting and Public Hearing on the District Code of Conduct, 5/28/24, H.S. Cafe., 7 p.m. #WeAreHFL
🇺🇸 Honoring the Brave 🇺🇸
Today, we pause to remember and honor the courageous individuals who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country. Their bravery and selflessness will never be forgotten.
Congratulations to Go Green Team on being a recipients of the BOE's Cougar Pride Award. The team was nominated by Colleen Halbohn (on behalf of the 7th grade teachers), for working on a recycling initiative with teachers as well as building & grounds. They were even at an environmental event at Harry Allen Park last weekend. Despite the rain, they had great attitudes and interacted with the public - educating kids through a fun recycling game that they created! They have been collecting papers from the blue recycling bins around the Middle School and bringing them to the appropriate recycling bins on campus. We appreciate their work! #WeAreHFL
Congratulations to Ben G. on being a recipient of the BOE's Cougar Pride Award. Ben was nominated by fellow student, Anrik for being the nicest student he has ever met. He influences other students in every classroom. Ben treats students and staff with kindness and respect. He goes above and beyond on making students happy and comfortable. If he finds any student struggling with work, he is more than happy to help. He perseveres at all times, and treats people the way he wants to be treated. There are no words to say how awesome and hard working of a student Ben is. He truly deserves this award. Thank you Ben for your hard work and kindness every day to everyone. #WeAreHFL
