We partner with New York State, Great Expectations (Lima), Mendon Child Care (Mendon), and Pride & Joy (Avon) to provide these programs. 📢 Important Details: These free spots are awarded via a lottery. Congratulations to Mr. Goold and Select Choir on being recipients of the BOE's Cougar Pride Award. Mr. Goold and Select Choir were nominated by Kelly Paganelli. Paganelli's nomination read the following: "I am nominating Mr. Goold and the Select Choir on behalf of the HFL Alumni Hall of Fame Committee for the Cougar Pride Award. Every year, Mr. Goold and this amazing group perform for our Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony and elicit a multitude of feelings from the audience. The reaction ranges from Pride (thus why it's so fitting they get this award), Joy, Deep Appreciation, and Amazement. On top of all that, what makes this performance even more spectacular is that it happens very shortly after the start of the school year - they don't have that much time to prepare. Furthermore, each song is individually selected to match the characteristics of the Alumni receiving this distinction. Without fail, the songs bring the awardees and the audience to tears. At the conclusion of this event, everyone marvels at what they've just witnessed. As such, it's with a full heart and much appreciation that our Committee submits this application for consideration." #WeAreHFL

Congratulations to Megan Mansfield on being a recipient of the BOE's Cougar Pride Award. Mansfield was nominated by parent, Heather Abraham. Abraham noted the following: "Megan has been absolutely wonderful this year. She has reached out to me with concerns and has helped my daughter through a couple rough patches and has been a huge asset this year. She has definitely gone above and beyond the role of a physical education teacher and we are very grateful to have her this year." #WeAreHFL

Congratulations to Lorelei H. on being a recipient of the BOE's Cougar Pride Award. Lorelei was nominated by Mrs. Grey, Mr. Czubinski, and Mrs. McCaffrey for going above and beyond to help her peers in Math class. She is attentive and respectful and has taken on a leadership role to help support those around her. She makes new students feel comfortable and valued and works as a peer tutor with various students. Lorelei has worked one on one with ENL students to help them understand as well as sits by students that struggle to make it to class daily. She is an exceptional friend and student and should be commended for her empathy to students and adults. #WeAreHFL

🦃 Gratitude in Action: Thanksgiving Celebrations at HF-L! 🦃 🎉 The Learning Academy kicked off its annual Thanksgiving celebration today with students preparing traditional Thanksgiving foods, including fresh salad greens grown right here in the greenhouse 🌱. During lunch, they gathered for a community meal to reflect on the things they’re thankful for and celebrate togetherness. 🍂 Last Friday, Life Skills classes K-12 (Garvey, Murphy, Kirby, and Hosier) came together for an incredible Friendsgiving Feast! Delicious food, teamwork, and laughter made it a day to remember as they celebrated friendship and gratitude. 🛠️ At HF-L Manor School, the annual Cangineering Event combined STEAM skills with giving back in a big way! This year’s theme, "Habits in November," inspired students to design creative structures out of canned and boxed food items. 🏅 After peer and guest judge voting, the entire school gathered in the gym to announce the winners and celebrate the total donations: 2,288 items of food collected! All donations will benefit the St. Catherine’s of Siena Church food pantry in Mendon and FISH in HF-L, ensuring that kindness and generosity reach those who need it most. ☕ A Sweet Surprise for Staff: This morning, HF-L High School Administration showed their appreciation by delivering coffee, cocoa, and doughnuts to all staff members—a small but heartfelt “thank you” for the incredible work they do every day! 💛 Today and every day, we are so thankful for our HF-L community. Today, Tyler Carmen’s Architecture class had the exciting opportunity to tour the ongoing construction areas of the high school as part of their hands-on learning experience! 🏫✨ The students got an up-close look at the renovations and construction happening right on their campus, giving them a real-world perspective on how their designs and ideas can take shape in the world of architecture. From blueprint to building, they’re seeing it all! A big thank you to the construction team for allowing our students to be a part of this incredible journey as they prepare for the future of design and construction! 🌟 #WeAreHFL

Congratulations to Lisa Creager on being a recipient of the BOE's Cougar Pride Award. Creager was nominated by Kim Agar. Agar noted that "at the end of the day, I know I should tidy up my room a bit more but I have nothing left in the tank. Lisa is STINKING AMAZING. My room is spotless and beautiful the next day. In addition to being a great cleaner, Lisa cares about the kids we know in common. We often share information and ideas to best help a student. Not every cleaner does that!"
