Congratulations to Lincoln R. on being a recipient of the BOE's Cougar Pride Award. Lincoln was nominated by Allison Cimmerer. Lincoln was leaving Lima Primary after his Kindergarten Meet & Greet when he noticed a student in the lobby who was crying and very upset because he wanted a balloon. Lincoln, who had received a balloon during his meet and greet with his kindergarten teacher, was so thoughtful and kind that he gave his balloon to the other student. Way to go, Lincoln, for showing Cougar Pride on your first day of Kindergarten! #WeAreHFL
Congratulations to Dan Michalski on being a recipient of the BOE's Cougar Pride Award. Michalski was nominated by parent, Mike Zamiara. His son, Ryan, is a student of Mr. Michalski. Mr. Michalski is a no-nonsense, "old school" teacher who sets high expectations for his students, both academically and behaviorally. These expectations are clearly communicated, and he provides his students with what they need to achieve goals. Recognizing the importance of social engagement, Mr. Michalski facilitates social events for his students outside school and attends them. Mr. Michalski holds his students accountable for their school work and behavior, but with an empathetic hand extended. He is a very positive role model, and a teacher HF-L is fortunate to have on staff. #WeAreHFL

Congratulations to Bob Callens on being a recipient of the BOE's Cougar Pride Award. Callens was nominated by the High School Administration for being incredibly dedicated this summer, collaborating closely with the new technology teachers at the high school, Tyler and Miranda Carman. Not only did he assist in cleaning and reorganizing their workspaces, but he also worked alongside them to update the curriculum map for DDP being sure to incorporate the latest Technology Standards. Callens helped the Carman's become familiar with the district’s procedures for purchasing raw materials, hand tools, and other essential supplies needed for the upcoming school year. As a mentor and team player, Callens consistently goes above and beyond. His welcoming approach and commitment to supporting the new teachers demonstrate his invaluable role within our school community. #WeAreHFL
