At its November 5, 2024, meeting, the Honeoye Falls-Lima (HF-L) Board of Education unanimously voted to extend Superintendent Gene Mancuso’s contract through June 30, 2028. This decision underscores the Board’s ongoing confidence in Mancuso’s leadership and commitment to the district, with the contract extension taking effect immediately upon approval.
Superintendent Mancuso began his tenure with HF-L in March 2013 and has since led the district through significant challenges, including three major capital projects that have improved facilities and resources for students and staff. His steady leadership and vision have helped HF-L continue its legacy of academic excellence while keeping a clear focus on student-centered learning and community engagement.
“It is an honor to continue working with this dedicated Board of Education, our wonderful community, and the HF-L schools,” Mancuso shared. “Every day, we strive to make decisions that positively impact students, providing them with the support and resources to reach their potential. The HF-L community’s collaboration and commitment make this district a remarkable place to work.”
Throughout his tenure, Mancuso has emphasized the importance of community input in decision-making. He has engaged teachers, staff, and residents in advisory councils, feasibility committees, and safety committees, drawing on the community’s diverse expertise to support district initiatives and create innovative solutions for HF-L schools.
As Superintendent, Mancuso upholds the district’s mission by aligning all decisions with the goal of empowering students to excel. He oversees HF-L’s educational programs, budgeting, staffing, and facilities management, ensuring policies are effectively implemented district-wide. Mancuso receives an annual evaluation in line with state regulations and adheres to the responsibilities outlined in New York’s Education Law, dedicated to creating a supportive, high-quality learning environment.
Mancuso’s background reflects his enduring commitment to service and education. After joining the U.S. Army out of high school, he began his teaching career in 1991, eventually serving as a teacher, coach, dean of students, assistant principal, principal, assistant superintendent, and superintendent.
“I am fortunate to work alongside passionate educators who inspire students and foster curiosity,” Mancuso said. “Serving the HF-L community continues to be an honor, and I look forward to working together to provide the best educational experience for our students.”
