October Habits of Mind Student of the Month Winners

to ALL of our October "Students of the Month"!  These students consistently modeled the habit of Managing Impulsivity throughout October.  A person who is able to manage their impulsivity well will take the time to consider alternatives, gather information, and come to a considered conclusion.  They are able to set goals, prioritize, and keep their plans on track.  Our students are nominated by all of our teachers and, often, in their own classroom.  Way to go!!

Asynchronous Learning Day on November 30th

On Tuesday, October 27, 2020, the Honeoye Falls-Lima Central School District's Board of Education approved a changed to the District's calendar.  This change marks Monday, November 30th, 2020, as the District's first full asynchronous learning day for students K-12.  Staff will be in session.  During an asynchronous learning day, staff will be required to report to work, where they will be given the opportunity to plan curriculum and collaborate with colleagues.  There will also be professional development opportunities available to staff, if they choose.  Students will have assignments posted online for them to complete during the asynchronous learning day.  There will be no live instructional classes on this day, as students will be expected to work independently.  Asynchronous learning days are designed with both the students and teachers in mind.  These days provide the opportunity for teachers to catch up on their professional obligations while students complete meaningful assignments at home.  K-5 families should plan for 2-3 hours of activities for reading and math.  Specials will continue based on the letter day and should be planned for.
